How to use this calculator
The electricity formula
One kilowatt is 1,000 watts. Monthly energy in kilowatt-hours equals watts divided by 1,000, multiplied by device count, hours per day and days per month. Multiply kWh by your electricity rate for the estimated energy charge.
Where to find watts
Use the measured draw or a realistic operating-average wattage when possible. Some devices cycle on and off; the maximum printed rating may not reflect typical consumption.
What is excluded
Delivery fees, tiered or time-of-use electricity rates, fixed monthly charges and variations in device power are excluded unless you incorporate them into your assumed price per kWh. The annual estimate assumes the monthly usage repeats for twelve months.
