How to use this calculator
Turn a sales price into gross margin, operating contribution, and approximate break-even volume.
Margin versus markup
Gross margin divides unit gross profit by sales price. Markup divides unit gross profit by unit cost.
Fixed and variable expenses
The break-even model uses selling price minus unit cost and percentage-based fees. Fixed costs are subtracted from the total contribution.
Before tax and other costs
Shipping, returns, salaries and taxes are included only if you enter them in costs. The figures assume every unit sells at the entered price.
